Keeping our guests safe

The safety and comfort of our guests is paramount. We have carried out a full risk assessment and we will be doing everything we are advised to, and more, to ensure the safety and peace of mind of everyone who stays with us.

We have been certified with Visit Britain’s ‘We’re Good to Go’ industry standard certificate, which can be viewed here.

We have also been awarded with the AA’s ‘Covid Confident’ accreditation, which can be viewed here.

Full details follow on this page, but broadly speaking, we have implemented the following:

  • Social distancing in all public areas

  • Enhanced hygiene and cleaning throughout, using hospital-grade products

  • Hand sanitiser mounted on walls around the guesthouse

  • Socially distant breakfast room settings

  • Option of a fully contactless stay (see below)

THE TEAM

  • We are receiving regular updates on how to prevent COVID-19 in the workplace

  • We have carried out a full risk assessment

  • We will carefully track our own health and take our temperature at least twice a day

  • We will be washing our hands regularly throughout the day

  • We will wear protective gloves and face coverings when cleaning all areas of the guesthouse

BEFORE YOUR STAY

  • All bedrooms, bathrooms and public areas will have been cleaned and disinfected using hospital-grade chemicals

  • Surfaces in the bathroom and bedrooms, where possible and appropriate, plus soft furnishings will be steam-cleaned after each check-out

  • Extra cleaning and disinfection of the most frequently touched areas and items – light and plug switches, door handles, window latches, lamps, TV remotes, radiator thermostats, bathroom surfaces, all hard surfaces and so on

  • Guestbooks and room literature will be replaced after each stay, and kept in quarantine for 72 hours before being used again

  • We have removed some ornaments and non-essential items from rooms and guest areas to de-clutter and aid with thorough cleaning

  • Prior to arrival all guests will be asked to confirm if they or any of their party have shown symptoms of Covid-19 in the last 2 weeks. Unfortunately, those currently with symptoms, who have had them 2 weeks prior to check in, or are self-isolating will be asked to move your visit at a future date. We’re sure you’ll understand this is for the health and safety of everybody

  • Room keys and pens for check-in will be sanitiser (feel free to use your own pen if you’d prefer!)

DURING YOUR STAY

  • There will be a short health questionnaire of just a couple of questions when you arrive. We’ll also take contact details in case we need to follow up should any guests suffer symptoms whilst with us. We hope you’ll understand why this is necessary.

  • Hand sanitiser will be readily available at several points around the guesthouse

  • A contactless infra-red thermometer is available for guest use upon request

  • Our honesty bar is still in place. We ask you to use hand gel before opening the fridge and please only pick up the drink you are taking away. There are sanitising wipes on the bar, please wipe the handles of the fridge down and the surface when you are done. We will regularly clean this area too.

  • As per industry advice, guest rooms will only be serviced (involving us going into your room), upon request, for stays of 3 nights or more. Replenishment of towels, hospitality tray, and rubbish collections and anything else you need can be left outside your door upon request. Please contact us by phone or talk to us at breakfast

  • If, during your stay, you begin to feel unwell or experience any symptoms associated with Covid-19, we ask you to please remain in your room and contact us via phone. We will then discuss next steps with you as per the below updated guidance for accommodation providers:

If a guest is displaying signs of the COVID-19 virus while staying in overnight accommodation, they should inform the accommodation provider, immediately self-isolate where they are to minimise any risk of transmission, and request a test. If they are confirmed to have COVID-19, they should return home if they reasonably can. Guests should follow Government guidance on dealing with possible or confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.

BREAKFAST

  • Breakfast dining times will not need to be pre-booked, although please do let us know if you will be in a rush in the morning (see next point)

  • Should there be a short wait for a table, we can seat guests in our lounge to enjoy tea, coffee and cold food whilst you wait

  • Our cold breakfast buffet will be a little different, individual portions will be plated and covered for guests to collect and all condiments will be individually wrapped where possible

  • Salt and pepper shakers will be removed and available on request. They will be sanitised after each use

  • Hot meals will be served as usual

WHEN LEAVING

  • All bedrooms will be aired whilst cleaning, with all windows open

  • It goes without saying that all linen and towels, both used and unused, will be laundered on a hot wash
